Natural materials of various kinds make wonderful pens. Antler is no exception! It has a stone-like quality equaled by nothing else. Antler is not pure white, but a mixture of whites, grays and browns. Because of its irregular shape, the exterior of the antler often remains on a portion of the pen, giving a fantastic contrast between the refined curves of the lathe and the weathered rough and tough exterior of an animal built to live wild.
Most of our pens can be turned from antler, with size being the only limiting factor. There is an additional charge of $15 added to the base price of each pen due to the extra time needed to set up antler for the lathe.
We can also create a unique gift pen for you by turning a pen from YOUR antler!. If you like to hunt and have an old rack that isn't worthy of the trophy room wall, consider turning it into a family heirloom instead of gathering dust in the closet. Generally we need enough antler to make 2, 2.5" x 1" pieces that are fairly straight. For our larger pens such as the Gentry, we would need larger pieces.

Deer antler goes well in Rhodium too! Shown at left, the Flat top Parker style (Parker type refill) is a wonderful combination of classic styling and unusual materials. Truly an heirloom piece.
