We take time in making our pens, as you can see from our Pen Making pages. We have developed a finishing process that will stand up to years of wear and tear. Many who turn pens and sell them apply a very basic finish which looks shiny when new, but quickly dulls and wears off. Sometimes within a matter of a few days or weeks. Pens are like jewelry - and they should last a good long time. Long enough to pass them on to the next generation. That's how we make our pens.
Free shipping. There are no hidden charges for our turnings. The price you see is what you pay. You don't have to go all the way into the shopping cart to finally see what the shipping charges are. We don't like that when we shop on line and we assume you don't either. We ship USPS, insured. On larger orders we will determine shipping and let you know the cost up front before you commit to your order.
Free gift boxes. All our pens come to you in a handsome gift box which is presentation quality, at no additional charge. A good pen needs a safe place to rest and you shouldn't have to pay extra for that.
A family business. JES Woodcrafting started about 7 years ago, when our 4th son, Jordan was born. The desire to be creative coupled with the need to bring in extra income to our family without being away from the family (our shop is in the basement of our home) led us to start a pen turning business when a friend from our church showed me and one of my sons how to turn a wood pen on a mini lathe. So your purchase dollars are going to help us raise our kids and support our family.
